Oakwood, Ga. – Sophomore Emily Kearney put in another stellar performance to lead a surging Bees team to a second place finish at the University of North Georgia Invitational over the weekend. A year ago it was Kearney who set the course record at the same event, posting a 17:59 5K. Emily ran a blistering 17:40 to shatter her own record, taking first place in the process.
“Emily is the total package. She works incredibly hard and is a fierce competitor. You never have to wonder if she is ready to run, she loves to compete and is fearless”, stated Coach Caldwell.
Kearney was not alone in putting together an excellent performance. The Bees dominated the top 5, with Kalie Demerjian taking 3rd overall, and Katie Clarke coming in 4th. Rounding out the scoring for the Bees were Maddie Mullen and Katie Gerrard. “The team ran well as a whole. I think in a few weeks we will be hitting our stride and if we take care of a few unfortunate incidents, we should be where we expect to be”, commented Coach Caldwell. The remaining ladies to cross the line were Olivia Babeu, Gabrielle Robinson and Faith Dickey.
