Rome, Ga. – Emily Kearney was the overall winner of the Berry Invitational on Saturday with a field of 215 women, leading the team to a 2nd place finish behind hosts Berry. Kearney navigated the 6000M rolling hills on the Berry College campus in a time of 21:40 to finish 79 seconds in front of the number 2 finisher. “I was very happy with the performance of Emily today. She is running really well and it is going to be exciting what she can do in the next month once postseason comes around,” commented Coach Caldwell.
The lady Bees finished 1 point behind host Berry college (55-56) to take second place overall out of 23 scoring universities. The Bees did not run a full squad as they sat two of their top 6 runners out due to injuries. “The ladies that ran today did exactly what we wanted. We used this race as a training run to get us ready for conference in 3 weeks. We will race next week as well but most likely not at full strength,” stated Coach Caldwell.
