Atlanta, Ga. – The Bees built on their Indoor Track successes with a strong showing at the first outdoor meet of the season. Running at Emory on 3/18, the highlight of the meet was the performance by Emily Kearney. Running in the top seeded heat for the women’s 1500M, Emily absolutely ran away from the field and punched her ticket to Outdoor Nationals with a qualifying time of 4:38 (4:57 mile). Kearney followed that up 90 minutes later with an overall win in the women’s 800 running a time of 2:20. Both these times were all time best performances for Emily. Olivia Babeu also had a strong showing in the women’s 5000M.
The Bees returned back to Emory for the second weekend in row and Kearney put on another show that far surpassed what she did the previous Saturday. Running in the top seeded race of the women’s 1500M, Kearney took the lead early and ran away from the field to run another personal best time of 4:34.84 (4:53 mile) which gives her the “A Standard” in the women’s 1500M outdoor national championships. Sixty minutes later, Kearney followed that up with another personal best in the women’s 800M race in a time of 2:17.98. Other notable performances on the day were Bayete Chinwendu running 2:13.05 in the men’s 800M race, Adrian Monzon‘s 16:27.61 in the men’s 5000M and John Ray‘s 4:58.70 in the men’s 1500M race.
